Reading Hash House Harriers
Trail # 703 - Monday July 14th 2008
ONON: Soccer fields by the WaWa on Lancaster Ave
Hares: BLAWB, DONALD FRUMP, BETWEEN DICKS
The gathering of an eager group of hashers and a "uni" group of hares (I kept
thinking isn't there four of them???
Finally, I confined my confusion to the ever knowing OE, and he just confused me
more.) united in the metropolis of Shillington for a lovely, but lonely trek
through the lands of Wyomissing and Shillington.
As our group circled up, it became quickly apparent that this trail would not be
a live trail as the hares just simply pointed down a path and said, Go that
way!" Off we went. After a mile of jogging, walking, splashing and stumbling
about, we wondered when we would see a BN.
We encountered many perfect places; the enchanted woods, the beautifully carved
log bench that sat atop the hills of Wyomissing, a hobo campfire ring, a steep
hill atop a cemetery, a few back yards (specifically one with a hasher sitting
in it!), but to our dismay, we found nothing.
The hares did do an excellent job of setting their flour marks sooo far apart
that not only were we dying of thirst, but we were utterly confused about where
we were going the entire trail.
In fact, the pack stayed together the entire trail! It truly was a group effort.
At long last (about 3 miles into it), we arrived at our first BN - good ole
Champions!
We each had two nasty cup of Lager (why can't we have Miller Lite?) and off we
went again. As we traepsed through the streets of Shillington, we were sure we
would see a another BN. Maybe at Flannagan's or another loop back around to
Champions for a double. Nope.
Trek, trek, treking we went. Admiring the beautiful peopleless lawns of
Shillington. Seriously, where had they all gone? And where did we end up, you
are probably wondering by now. Guess? Okay, I'll tell you where.
In that freakin yard where the hasher was sitting! We are sooo not clever. We
could have had beer waaayyyyy back in the middle of the trail! I forget the
dude's name [ JUSTBIGJIM - OE], but he has a very eerrrie resemblance to our
very own beloved Wild Cherry!
We circled up, threw out a few accusations and FINALLY off to Flannagan's we
went for some much needed fried food and MILLER LITE! On-out, JUST LAYS THERE :)
